About the Preschool Program

A place where children feel right at home

Our Preschool program is deeply embedded in the principles of the Reggio Emilia philosophy. Here at the Scandinavian School we see the child as creative, capable and inquisitive, full of wonder and awe. To support their curiosity and thinking we create many opportunities. Teachers spend a lot of time reflecting on these opportunities and are always looking for connections with the community and the outdoors. A place where the children at our school feel right at home no matter the weather.

Every corner of the environment has a purpose

The teachers are very observant to the possibilities of their classroom environment and constantly reflect on the child’s interest and curiosity. Every corner of the environment has a purpose and encourages encounters, communication, and relationships. There is order and beauty in the design of the equipment, the space and the materials.

A focus on project based learning

Project based learning is intertwined with the work they do throughout the day in the classroom, outside and the atelier work with our atelierista Anya. These projects may stem from a question, a wonder, an interest that children have shown with their peers and teachers are facilitating this project by creating meaningful learning experiences.
