About the Swedish Preschool Curriculum at Scandi
We follow the Swedish national preschool curriculum. It is a curriculum that was written by politicians, professors, pedagogues and educators from Reggio Emilia where they put the child in the center of their creative thinking and process.
The curriculum values the child’s curiosity and capability and truly respects them as our future leaders of the world. It emphasizes democratic ways of working with children and promotes play as a right of the child. It recognizes the child as a human being with their own rights.
The values in the Swedish curriculum incorporates outdoor experiences as well. It is written that Education should give children the opportunity to acquire an ecological and caring approach to their surrounding environment and to nature and society.
The way we follow through with this approach is allowing all children ample time outdoors, expanding opportunities to get inspired and learn from the outside world, creating a democratic setting where the child’s voice is being heard and valued, creating a vibrant social community that provides security and creates a will and desire to learn.

-
The Reggio Emilia Approach
We are a school modeled by the Reggio Emilia approach, which is an educational philosophy placing the natural development of the child at its core.

Professional Development
We value professional development as part of the growth for our school and for ourselves as pedagogues. We spend plenty of time reflecting on the child’s experiences and our practice.
